UMMC's Insight Summer Enrichment Program is designed to inspire Mississippi high school students belonging to one or more medically-underrepresented racial or ethnic groups to pursue careers in medicine. It also aims to educate participants on the steps necessary to become a physician and provide helpful insights from actual UMMC doctors and medical students.
Activities planned include presentations on a variety of medical and practical topics, interview skills training and mock interviews, clinical shadowing with in-person patient interaction, hands-on medical skills training utilizing UMMC's advanced simulation capabilities, and more.
Dates: June 10-21, 2024, excluding Saturdays and Sundays
Times: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Participant Slots Available: 20
Participant Requirements:
- Self-identifies as member of a racial or ethnic group which is underrepresented in medicine (African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native American)
- Age 16 – 18
- Enrolled in a participating high school
- Completion of program application with two teacher references
- No significant disciplinary or truancy issues reported
Additional Information: Daily breakfast and lunch provided at no cost.
